George Paul
George was born to the piano. While still in his mother's womb, he was constantly exposed to her frequent playing. By the age of three, George was picking out tunes and taking piano lessons. For him, it's been a constant search for more melodies and grooves ever since.

George cut his professional teeth in jazz clubs, blues bars and honky tonks on the west coast. He brings a combination of all these influences to his contra dance playing, culminating in a very unique feel to the music--one that makes you want to move. George Marshal of Wild Asparagus has called George "The king of rolling walkthrus".

George has been playing for contra dances since 2003 and has composed hundreds of dance tunes. He has recorded three CDs with the Avant Gardeners and three Waltz CDs of mostly his own material. He is currently working on an original tune book and ”Landscapes of My Life”, a CD featuring his newest waltzes.
